City Hall will be illuminated with the colours associated with the Pride flag. Each of the six colors has a meaning; red means life, orange means healing, yellow means sunlight, green means nature, blue means harmony and peace, and purple means spirit. More recent versions of the Pride flag now also include black and brown to show support for people of colour. June is widely recognized as Pride Month to commemorate the anniversary of Stonewall riots that began during the early hours of June 28, 1969 at the Stonewall Inn in New York an event that is now credited as giving rise to the modern LGBTQ movement.
